The Monaco 1 211 is the winner of the 2020 Hunter/Newcastle Awards
At Montgomery Homes, we take pride in our stunning, architectural home designs - so we’re even prouder to announce our Monaco 1 211 display home has won the 2020 HIA Awards for its category in Newcastle!
The Monaco 1 211 has taken the top spot in the Newcastle/Hunter HIA’s category for best display home in the $400,001 - $450,000 price range. Competing with dozens of other display homes in the area, the Monaco was judged based on its modern street-facing facade, the attractive landscaping, interior design, highly functional layout, and architectural elements like the high ceilings and wall panelling.
We couldn’t be prouder of the Monaco! In this blog, we’ll explore the Monaco’s defining features - read on.
#1. Spacious floor plan and clever design for sloping sites

At Montgomery Homes, we’re known for being the sloping site specialists. The Monaco is one of our clever sloping site home designs - ideal for challenging blocks in Sydney, Newcastle, and around the Central Coast.
The Monaco has a split slab design, creating a stylish transition from the entrance down into the open plan kitchen and living area. The purpose of the split slab technique is to minimise excavation, eliminate the possibility of a steep driveway, and reduce the risk of flooding - all while looking incredible inside and out.
The split slab technique is one of the reasons why we’re an award winning HIA builder. Our home designs are fresh and functional, allowing for safe and stylish living.
Along with the clever design, the Monaco 1 211 is also incredibly spacious with four bedrooms, walk-in wardrobes, two bathrooms and an ensuite. It’s the perfect design for growing families, or homeowners who love hosting dinner parties and social events. Friends and family can stay the night whenever they like - there’s always room in the Monaco 1 211.
Plus, there’s a cosy home theatre towards the front of the house and a large family room combined with the open-plan kitchen and dining area. Entertaining has never been simpler - or as luxurious.
#2 Panelled feature walls for a subtle-but-sleek geometric look
One of the most striking design features of the Monaco 1 211 are the panelled feature walls. The VJ Wall Panels are made from premium high moisture MDF (medium density fibreboard), adding a smooth, sleek look to the walls.
The grooves also add a geometric element to the bedrooms, living room, study nook, and even the facade. The panels appear both inside and outside the Monaco 1 211, creating a stunning sense of consistency and style.
#3. Contemporary bathroom designs featuring mixed materials and floor-to-ceiling tiling
The Monaco 1 211 in Cameron Grove has two spacious bathrooms featuring floor-to-ceiling tiles, matte black tapware, and a large frameless mirror spanning the length of the bathroom basin.
You’ll also find mixed materials and textures in each bathroom, including concrete-look tiles, timber basins, and a deep, glossy freestanding bath. When you walk into the bathroom, you can imagine soaking in the bathtub after a long day, sipping champagne amongst the bubbles.
With indoor plants and scented candles burning, it’ll feel like you have a chic day spa in your very own home.
#4. Unique light fixtures and pendants
Our Monaco 1 211 display home exudes luxury - and the unique lighting design adds to the glamour. As you walk through the Monaco, you’ll notice the abstract pendants with spherical globes and matte black details, plus hanging pendant lights in the kitchen and all four bedrooms.
The soft lighting adds a contemporary yet cosy feel to the Monaco 1 211, making it the perfect place to call home.
